Fans For Wheeler Drive
This July we have been working on a campaign that advocates alongside the residents of Emma Wheeler Homes to bring awareness to the lack of air conditioning units and to supply residents with a cooling entity. For those who might not be aware, Emma Wheeler Homes was built on top of a landfill and therefore resident homes get heated quicker due to the radiation of waste beneath the surface.
Within this campaign people from across the Chattanooga area have donated box fans to help cool resident homes that are without air conditioning units. We received more than the amount needed and distributed the fans to the community last week!
However, while we were in the community, it was made apparent by many Emma Wheeler tenants that many of the air conditioning units in the complex do not work proficiently. Seeing that there is still a need for families to have a cooling unit, we would like to continue the campaign to hopefully provide box fans for every resident so they can stay cool for the remainder of the summer and into the fall.
If you would like to donate a fan click the link below to purchase a box fan and have it sent directly to us via Amazon or contact Community Outreach Manager, Darian, at: dsylvester@thebeth.org to drop your box fan donation off at the Bethlehem Center!
During this process we have been so thankful to have partners in the community that have shown extreme care and have made this process more fluid. There are so many assets within the community of Emma Wheeler Homes, and we value working with people that are also doing the day to day work alongside others in the community.
