The Beth Applies for Summer Food Service Program
Chattanooga, Tenn. – The Bethlehem Center is applying for the Summer Food Service Program. The program allows meals for Jump STArt camp to be provided to children free of charge.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) was established to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Free meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines are provided to all children at approved SFSP sites in areas with significant concentrations of low-income children.
“We are extremely excited for the opportunity to apply for this grant,” said The Beth’s Director of Programming, Rachel Devore. “Jump STArt camp requires a lot of resources to run and sustain. Providing free food would allow us to use our spending more effectively and provide better activities and lessons for our students.”
Jump STArt Camp is The Bethlehem Center’s summer program that provides a safe space for students during an out-of-school time where they can grow academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The camp runs from June 10th to July 19th.
